My coupons don’t expire until August. Can I still use them after the July 31 cut-off?

Yes. You can use your coupons at participating retailers until midnight Eastern Time on the expiration date printed on each coupon, which is 90 days after they are mailed. Retailers’ stock of converter boxes may be diminishing due to the July 31 cut-off; you are encouraged to purchase as soon as you receive your coupon(s).

Return to Questions

My coupons were lost or stolen. What should I do? Can I get replacements?

If the records show that the coupons were redeemed, NTIA will not be able to replace them even if they were redeemed by someone who should not have obtained them. After the July 31st cut-off, there are only two options available for you: (1) If you know someone who did not use one or both of their coupons, and they are willing to donate them, you can use them; or (2) you can purchase a converter box at full price without a coupon.

Return to Questions

I applied for coupons, but haven’t received them. How long does it take?

It typically takes 9 business days to process and mail coupons; the coupons are mailed via first-class mail. If you have applied for coupons, but have not yet received them, you may check the status of your request on the NTIA’s website at https://www.dtv2009.gov/CheckStatus.aspx External Link.

I redeemed one of my two coupons, and the other one expired. Can I get a replacement?

If you have redeemed one coupon toward the purchase of a TV converter box and the other has expired, you may request and be approved for one replacement coupon. After the July 31st cut-off, there are only two options available for you: (1) If you know someone who did not use one or both of their coupons, and they are willing to donate them, you can use them; or (2) you can purchase a converter box at full price without a coupon.

I was just ordered to ship out for active duty overseas next week. I haven’t received my coupons and I will be on duty for the next 6 months. Can I use the coupons when I return?

I did not apply for a coupon prior to midnight Eastern Time July 31, 2009, what are my options?

Return to Questions

I have coupons that I don’t need. What should I do with them?

While it is illegal to sell coupons, it is okay to donate them. By giving them your coupon, you can help to ensure they continue to receive important local news and information.
